MOTH's All-Time Favourite House

Ooh, ooh, ooh - Mills come quick!  It's my very favourite house in the whole wide world, you know the one I always drive by, stop & stalk everytime I'm in the city.  Ooh, ooh, ooh, I'm sooooo excited, it's up for sale!!!!
Look it's just like I knew it would be & I know how much you love curvy shiny stairs & reproduction wrought iron balustrade thingies.
.....and a modular sofa & your favourite colour curtains Murky Khaki Green & look Mills, two sorts of window shapes in one room, hooley dooley!
Be still my thumpin' heart, a round kitchen  with rool shiny wood cabinets & a zillion canned down lights. I reckon I might even start to spend time in here, what do you reckon Mills, too good huh!
We could sit & watch our wedding video here EVERY night my little flower. And if ever we got bored I could show my all-time fave, the flick of me & the boys crossing the finishing line at the '95 World Masters when we won the Men's Coxed Four. And those leopard print cushions might just bring out the animal in me Mills, if ya get my drift, nudge, nudge.
Ooh, ooh, ooh a pool table & ergo next to the kitchen. I'm in heaven!
And a smidgy of grass so as you can practice your putting, seein' as ya can't get around the golf course these days with that dodgy knee.
Oh Mills, now don't get too carried away, I know you'll be beside yourself.....more Murky Khaki Green curtains & a rool classy chandelier. Might have to think about putting one of them in EVERY room.
Oh my gosh just look here Mills, another set of the Murky Green Khaki curtains in the dining room, & look heart of my heart, a sofa just in case I get a bit tired & emotional during a dinner party with your rellos & need a bit of a lie down.
Wow, wow, wow Mills a proper den for me. And look at all those shelves, wait 'til I show the boys from the Stirling Tip pics of this, they'll be soooo jealous.
Cop those round windows & round ceilings, what a bonus Mills, they're toooo good.
And those urns Mills, wow I bet the Greeks would kill to get 'em back, but they can't as I reckon they match the style of the house perrrrrrfectly.
Here's our lurrrve nest my little pirhana fish. Not sure what's going on with the ceiling here, but give me a ladder & a sledge hammer & I'll have it down & replaced in a flash.
Now if this isn't a deal maker Mills then nothing is. Look - a framed players jumper of your favourite team Port Power. No, no, no petal don't be embarassed that one of your mob would have a place like this, I told you one day someone would make it into the Eastern suburbs & today's that day.
Just looking at this makes me reach for my Atrial Fibrillation pills, just look at this baby, my own Coopers store house.
Yep Mills, it's the penultimate feature of the house, our own lift. Just think, when you have ya dodgy knee ripped open soon & replaced with a new & improved one, I won't have to drag you up the stairs on my crook back during your recuperation. ......phew.
And the Piece de Resistance Mills, just take a gander at this garage. Imagine my truck & all my shed junk in here, sorry but you'd have to park the Subi out on the street, this is ALL MINE!

So Mills, there ya have it, WHAT A PLACE, I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself. Off to phone the Agent for a private appointment, so as I can take a tour & maybe, just maybe, make 'em an offer they can't refuse. xxx

Princess Pink

Following the Baby Shower yesterday, our little grandaughter-to-be has the most wonderful wardrobe to start out in life. So many gorgeous things from a very generous gaggle of friends. The pink theme was all pervasive & the food delicious. It's a freezing cold Winter's day here in the Hills, so I figure a few hours of solid housework will warm me up. Puppy Lulu is down on the Tennis Court having a wonderful time helping MOTH chop the firewood & cart it up to the house. She is soaking wet & filthy & deliriously happy, just how a dog needs to be every now & then. A warm puppy bath & a dry off in front of the fire later on this arvo will fix that! Hope your Sunday is far more interesting than mine.

Pretty Pressies

A quick post before I dash off to the Baby Shower Miss K's Mum is hosting this afternoon. It will be our first grandchild, & yes, with only 3 weeks to go, you could say both Nonnas-To-Be are in a state of frenzied anticipation! I've been buying & stashing baby things for months now & I can't tell you what a thrill it's been buying pink for the first time in my life! Even though he volunteered his services, I gave MOTH the King of Gift-Wrapping a wide berth last night as I wrapped everything. I felt his grasp on pretty pink paper & co-ordinating ribbons was diminished, having had 4 stubbies prior to dinner. He then proceeded to snore on the sofa during the entire process, so I think my decision was vindicated. I'll try & take some pics this arvo, it sounds like it will be a pretty noisy, fun affair. It's the weekend dear Hedgies, so go enjoy!

Dancing On The Ceiling

Sorry dear Hedgies, but to fully appreciate the magnitude of this post you will need to tilt your head right over to the left. Keep going, keep going, keep going.........done. (No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get stupid Blogger to load this pic the correct way!!) Now with your head and neck in a very precarious position, you'll understand that this image is the last corner of exposed red/brown brick walls in the very last unrenovated room here at The Hedge. 6 years, 10 rooms and 5,000 litres of Solver Parchment we are almost done. In about 10 minutes it will disappear with a sweep of MOTH's trusty Big Bertha roller & I have the champers ready to pop. Oh and now your can tilt your head back to it's normal position....phew. All cricked neck medical claims to Blogger please, not moi.

The other end of this room, which is our Home Office/Family Room has received the Parchment treatment & I can't take my eyes from it. Too good, too good, too good. According to my phone at 3.30p.m. the temperature in here was only 2C. so I'd better go up there and chip the icicles from MOTH's frozen body and defrost the paint brushes. For those of you who have been around here since May 2008, you'll know why we're Dancing On The Ceiling!

Our Gracious Majesty

This weekend our Pommie mates are preparing for 4 HUGE days of partying to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Our Gracious Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11. It's probably timely to remind Hedgies in the Excited States of America that Australia remains a Commonwealth country. We are not a Republic (yet), so our figurative Head Honcho is still the Queen of England, yep don't get me started.

Pommie Land will be awash with jubilee gun salutes, carriage processions, beacon lighting, river pageants, palace concerts, church services, festivals, exhibitions, lunches, mad Poms hosting boisterous street parties by the thousands & enough bunting to traverse the globe twice .

Being the laconic, laid-back mob that we are, we've been taking the celebratory things a bit easier. The odd pub or two have cashed in & are having Royal Jubilee BBQ's in their beer gardens at double the normal price. Patrons have been asked to show some respect & eschew their normal flip-flops for something a little posher (Crocs in red, blue or white thanks).

I was getting a little concerned that we weren't embracing the whole shebang until today, when I was speaking to one of my favourite clients, the Royal Flying Doctor Base in Broken Hill. Remote, dusty, outback Australia in all it's glory. I love this hangar & have spent many happy hours in its cavernous surrounds. It's always busy, with aircraft & the medical crews coming in & out constantly, equipment being checked, restocked & reloaded, quick handovers given, a vast area of concrete floors with air redolent with the smell of av gas.

But tonight it's being transformed into something else. The planes will be pushed out onto the tarmac, floors swept clean & equipment stashed. In their place metres of bunting will be strung around, Royal paraphenalia prominently displayed, eskies overflowing with ice will have bottles of beer & bubbles pushed in hard to cool, canapes will be passed around, the band will fire up & the hangar will be fuller than a punter on Melbourne Cup Day. Despite being about as geographically removed from the colourfully garlanded streets of Old Blighty as it gets, the lovely people of Broken Hill will be partying just as hard as their Pommie mates by hosting their very own Royal Jubilee Cocktail Party. My client was soooo excited, I just wanted to hop in the car & head north to join them!

So to my favourite Pommie Hedgies have a mighty time this weekend. And remember that tonight in remote Broken Hill, a group of Colonials will be raising their glasses to a faraway Queen. We are different, but we are the same. It's the weekend dear Hedgies, so go enjoy!
